When we design infrared bathroom lamps, we’re basically trying to solve a tricky problem: how do you blast enough heat to keep someone warm in a wet room without making them feel like they’re staring into the sun? It’s a balancing act. You need the warmth, but you don’t need the glare.
Dealing with the “Dazzle”
Most standard infrared lamps throw off this harsh, blinding white light. If you’ve ever tried to bathe a baby under one of those, you know it’s way too much for their eyes. To fix that, we use specialized filters or coated quartz. It shifts the light spectrum, meaning the heat still hits your skin perfectly, but the visible light drops way down. You get all the cozy warmth without that annoying “dazzle” effect.
Fighting the Steam
Bathrooms are honestly a nightmare for electronics. Between the splashes and the steam, things rust or short out fast. That’s why we stick to an IP44 rating. In plain English? It means the housing keeps out any solid bits and handles water splashes from any angle. We use heavy-duty gaskets and seal every connection point. If you skip this part, you’re just asking for corroded terminals and a dead lamp in a few months.
A Word on Heat
Here’s the thing: high-output lamps gethot. Really hot. The filtered light protects your eyes, but the lamp head itself is still a furnace. You’ve got to make sure there’s plenty of breathing room in your ceiling. If you cram it into a tight space without airflow, the heat just builds up. That’ll trip your safety switches or, worse, scorch your ceiling.
Getting it Running
We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements. You just wire them into your existing circuit and the filters handle the safety side of things. Just one tip: double-check that your voltage matches the lamp specs. If they don’t line up, you’ll burn through the filament in no time.
