
Why we stopped making “disposable” towel rails
Most towel rails are built as sealed boxes. It’s a frustrating design. If one heating element burns out after a few years of hard use, you’re usually stuck throwing the whole thing in the bin. It’s a waste of metal and a headache for whoever has to replace it. We decided to do things differently.
The “Plug-and-Play” Way
Instead of soldering everything together into one giant, permanent piece, we went with a modular setup. Think of it like Lego. We use standard connectors and slide-in brackets so the heating tubes aren’t permanently trapped in the frame. If a tube dies, you don’t have to rip the whole rail off the wall or mess around with complex internal wiring. You just pull the old module out and slide a new one in.It’s that simple.
The Honest Trade-off
Now, look—nothing is perfect. By adding these connection points, we’re adding more joints than you’d find in a single welded unit. If you aren’t careful with those joints, you risk voltage drops or spots that get too hot. To fix that, we use high-temp terminals that can actually handle the heat. Does it make each module a tiny bit larger? Yeah, it does. But I’d rather have a slightly bigger bracket than spend four hours dismantling a rail just to fix one part.
Keeping things hot for the long haul
Here’s the thing about infrared elements: they eventually wear out. After about 5,000 to 8,000 hours, you’ll notice they just aren’t as punchy as they used to be. In a typical setup, that’s when you buy a whole new product. With our gear, you just check the wattage and voltage of the old tube, swap it for a fresh one, and you’re back to 100%. We built this specifically for the folks managing hotels or gyms. If you’ve got fifty rails across a facility, you can’t be replacing the entire chassis just because a couple of tubes hit their limit. You just swap the part, double-check the circuit, and get on with your day.
